Which lasts longer: a photo book or a photo album?
Both can last decades if they’re stored well, away from direct sunlight, heat and damp. They age in different ways, though.
A printed photo book has no loose parts, so photos can’t slip out, fade unevenly or get lost. The main wear point is the spine, so choose a hardcover if it’ll be handled often. Because the book exists as a digital file, you can order a replacement if it’s damaged.
An album’s lifespan depends on its materials. Cheap plastic sleeves and the old self-adhesive “magnetic” pages can yellow, stick to prints and damage them over time. If you choose an album, look for acid-free, PVC-free pages labelled as archival or photo-safe. The prints themselves are irreplaceable unless you keep the original files.
