Home to the most visited and likely most photographed painting in the world – the Mona Lisa – the Louvre in Paris also provides an instantly recognisable architectural landmark for travellers to snap. It’s no surprise it made it to number five of the most photographed places in the world for Popsa.
Dating back 5,000 years, with the most recognisable areas traced to the 5th century BC, the Acropolis in Athens draws up to 23,000 people per day, so timed entry slots are a must.
It’s hard to find a time of day when the Trevi Fountain in Rome isn’t filled with tourists trying to get a snap in front of it, with visitors reporting on social media that even at 6am there are crowds eager to get their photo of the Baroque fountain, flanked by statues of Roman gods.
At nearly 2000 years old, the Colosseum dominates the architecture of Rome. Along with the likes of the Eiffel Tower in Paris and Big Ben in London, it’s the landmark to capture for visitors documenting their trip. The best time to photograph the Colosseum is considered to be early morning around sunrise or in the evening during sunset when you can capture dramatic lighting through the open structure.
Since opening in 1992, Europe’s most-visited theme park has welcomed over 375 million guests, including thousands of Popsa users, who find Disneyland Paris to be the most photograph-worthy place on Earth.
